I have seen the AMeGA report [ Automatic Metadata Generation Applications http://www.loc.gov/catdir/bibcontrol/lc_amega_final_report.pdf ] but will admit I haven’t had a chance to think about metadata generation much since I wrote this – I should, however, probably write this up properly and acknowledge all those who influenced this viewpoint (including your work [ http://ils.unc.edu/mrc/ ]).

    I think that there is a lot of confusion about the use of “automatic metadata generation” and lots of good and necessary work addressing the first five processes gets lost because the last one gets all the press.
