In addition to your comments about the unsuitability of FlashMeeting (which I have used and rate highly) I wondered if you had any other comments on, or considerations of security, e.g. use of videonconferencing for commerical/confidential information. How ‘safe’ are the other 3 that you tested?

Many Thanks

You’ve idenfied a clear need that is looking for a solution (i.e. distributed team meetings). My experience suggests that this often the other way around in FE; they buy in a solution and then look for something to do with it! Outside of the occassional team meetings (which in FE may not really apply as they will often share same offices if not same building), do you have any suggestions of how these tools can be usefully applied to support teaching and learning?

A great summary of our experiences so far! And following the comment from Trideep at Dimdim, their customer service is miles better than Adobe’s. Thank you Trideep :-)

Have you tried http://www.wiziq.com/
I have been looking for an Elluminate / Adobe Connect substitute and this looks quite promising.

Thanks for taking a look at Dimdim for your meetings and events online. Audio performance issues can be sometimes caused by network inconsistencies or insufficient resources on the computer (too many other apps open at the same time). When you start sharing your camera, Dimdim will try to determine which camera has the most activity. For many people the internal iSight is the one typically selected by default.

Our shared web page feature is for synchronized web browsing. When the host scrolls or clicks a link, everyone goes with them. It’s best if you use the Flash poll version of your PollDaddy poll.

We’re working on supporting the Chrome beta, but haven’t released anything yet. I’d like to help you get through the tech issues you encountered in your testing. Feel free to drop me an email and I’ll get our support team to assist.

Thanks!
