I’m not a regular JAWS user but work with people who are. I’d agree with your comment about people with disabilities being expected to tbe experts in web technology – something that is indeed not always the case, as I discovered with a JAWS user who basically just uses it straight out of the box and doesn’t make many changes to it.

I think it goes beyond visual impairment too, because we’re seeing an increase in the number of workers being diagnosed with RSI in their upper limbs and needing to use assistive technology such as Dragon Naturally Speaking.

There is hope though for the future – more people are aware of the need for accessible websites. I often field questions about accessibility and the internet. The more people are aware of it and the need to keep things simple, the better.
