Comment on A brief overview of XCRI, about to have a new boost by Vashti Zarach http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/2011/07/12/a-brief-overview-of-xcri-about-to-have-a-new-boost/#comment-7 Fri, 22 Jul 2011 13:26:11 +0000 http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/?p=128#comment-7 And backed by me as head of Enterprise SIG at the time; I booked the original start up meeting to gather together the people talking about standardised course information, and supported the XCRI group and meetings in its early stages!

I hope the wider roll out is successful.

Comment on A brief overview of XCRI, about to have a new boost by Richard Staniforth - UWIC http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/2011/07/12/a-brief-overview-of-xcri-about-to-have-a-new-boost/#comment-6 Tue, 12 Jul 2011 13:39:35 +0000 http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/?p=128#comment-6 In UWIC (Cardiff) we have been collaborating on XCRI with UK universities for over a year, raising the profile of the standard for exchanging course information between institutions and aggregators. For us it has always seemed a ‘no brainer’ bringing consistent, universally valuable, extensible course data – enter once and disseminate to many – across a diverse constituency. A 21st century opportunity to use technology positively to solve an intractable problem.

But for Wales, apparently, this is to be a step too far. The next two JISC funding rounds are limited, exclusively, to English institutions through HEFCE. There is seemingly no appetite for HEFCW to support the very project which might assist in Leighton Andrews drive for joined up, collaboative growth in tertiary education in Wales.

Comment on Beyond the ‘how to’ guides – a search by Issue Eighteen – 26 July 2010 « SSBR Newsletter http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/2010/07/21/beyond-the-how-to-guides-a-search/#comment-5 Sat, 24 Jul 2010 13:33:08 +0000 http://blogs.cetis.org.uk/lisa/?p=74#comment-5 […] Project visits by the SSBR team supporting the JISC Institutional Innovation Programme have flagged up a need for some ‘beyond the how-to’ type of guides. Whilst the guidance about how to use a certain technology are obviously helpful, there is a need for some additional guidance about the wider issues in using particular technologies, for example, looking at embedding the technologies into an institution, good practice pointers, looking at a technology from various perspectives and so on.
